Departed San Diego at around 4:30am. Since AG did a 9hr+ drive from the Bay, it was only fair of me to take the next few hours on the road. We’ve been alternating every few hous since then.
Blazed into AZ in just a couple hrs despite it being Memorial Weekend. Had breakfast at IHOP in Yuma. Clean place, but the chairs were all beat up and uncomfortable.
For lunch, we searched out the closet Cracker Barrel in AZ using the wife’s Blackberry, then dropped the addy into our borrowed Magellan GPS, all while going 75mph. Modern technology is amazing! And so is Cracker Barrel! Gotta visit another one again before this trip is done. Thanks to JC for strong recommendation.
The utter lack of traffic has helped us make great time, but it’s a sobering, sad sign of the rough times many people are facing across America. Me any my fellow roadwarriors reflect on this as we negotiate the rain racing towards Albuquerque, NM. for the night.
